The police investigators are grilling the accused who has surrendered himself to the police and also confessed to the killing.
Liaqat Ali told the police that his eldest son, Waqas, slaughtered his wife Surayya Bibi at their residence in Talat Park. The complainant further said the youth got infuriated and slit open the throat of his mother after he came to know that she had developed illicit relations with a man of the same area.
Police investigators said the mother of six, Surayya, was lying dead in a pool of blood as they reached the crime scene. The police have removed the dead body to the morgue for autopsy.
The police have also registered the case on the complaint of Liaqat Ali, the father of the killer and husband of the deceased. Further investigations are underway.
SHOT DEAD: A 40-year-old man was shot dead by his rivals over old enmity in the Chuhng area, police said on Saturday.
The deceased, identified as Muhammad Safdar, was standing in front of his residence in EME-Housing Society when his opponents Kashif along with his accomplices appeared on the scene and opened straight fire on him.
The man sustained multiple bullet wounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. The killers fled away from the crime scene within no time.
Police investigators said the Kashif group had also killed the brother of Safdar a few years ago. The deceased had been pursuing the murder case of his brother in a local court. The police have registered the case and are investigating with no arrest made so far.
CRUSHED TO DEATH: A father of two was crushed to death by a rashly-driven bus in the Nawan Kot area, police said on Saturday. Ijaz Ali, 35, was crossing the road when a college bus ran over him.
The man sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to wounds. The driver, leaving the bus on the road, managed to escape from the crime scene. The police have impounded the bus and are investigating.
