Recently, while surfing on the internet, I found a very interesting and effective concept of Solar Power Plants. Parking lots take up lots of underutilised space however, thanks to recent structural innovation; the solar power industry has put increasing amounts of that underutilised space to productive use. Vast swaths of asphalt nationwide are being covered by structures fitted with photovoltaic panels that generate electricity – while also providing shade for parked vehicles.Installation of these parking lot canopies has become an economically viable choice for businesses and institutions weighing renewable energy options. But the biggest problem which Pakistan will face, in these type of parking lots is the law and order situation. The safety of these areas in time of any demonstration will be difficult as the mobs can damage it. But if these parking lots are built in Pakistan then it can help a lot in reducing energy crisis and would be a welcome release for companies ready to invest in renewable energy.MUBASHIR MAHMOOD, Karachi, September 4.
