The Federal Public Service Commission announced the cumulative merit list of candidates finally qualified for recruitment to BS-17 posts under the federal government on May 31. This time competition in Punjab has been severe. Due to shortage of seats, many students fail to get allocation. In 2008, 357 students were allocated against 685 candidates finally qualified for interview. So was the case in 2009 when only 337 candidates were allocated. Earlier, it was said that new posts would be created in 2011. Until now, no notification has been issued in this regard. I would request the government to increase the number of seats keeping in view the ever-increasing candidates failing to be allocated. The CSS is the country’s highest examination in terms of knowledge and competition. To avoid disappointment among the candidates, the government should consider the option of increasing the number of seats for all provinces and relieve meritorious candidates of disillusionment about their future.

AFFECTED CANDIDATE,
Lahore, June 16.
