Dr Afridi’s punishment

May 27, 2012

Dr Shakil Afridi, who unlawfully colluded with the US intelligence agencies in tracking down Osama bin Laden, has been sentenced to 33 years in prison on charges of conspiring and working against the interests of Pakistan. What is most disturbing in this affair is the US’ arrogant attitude which amounts to interference in our internal affairs. Some US senators have even termed Afridi ‘patriotic’ and asked our government to waive off his ‘unfair’ sentence. The government must lodge a strong protest with the Americans and ask them as to who has authorised them to define our national interests?

AIR-CDRE (R) MOHAMMAD YAQOOB KHAN,
Rawalpindi, May 24.
