Judicial standoff and future prospects

July 31, 2012

The Country is faced with seemingly incorrigible crisis of corruption, lawlessness, insurgency in Balochistan, missing persons, loadshedding, lack of consensus on a megadam and a standoff between government and the apex court under the umbrella of a controversial dispensation that casts a shadow of gloom and uncertainly over the people. The only ray of hope lies in the proactive apex court under the indomitable Chief Justice who is trying to render complete justice.
Maybe the spirit of rendering complete justice is imbibed by every Judge of apex court. The first Caliph Hazrat Abu Bakar Siddique (RA) had said that if he went wrong people should set him right. This has happened once in our history when the reluctant President was forced by people’s power to reinstate the Judges of Supreme Court. It appears we again need the peoples power to set the course right so that the Apex Court could render complete justice. We may however require to designate a Tahrir square at Minar-i-Pakistan in Lahore to provide a platform for people to collect and set the rulers right.
DR.MUHAMMAD YAQOOB BHATTI,
Lahore, July 27.
