Kamran Faisal case: NAB chairman exempted from court appearances

Attorney General Iran Qadir on Friday produced a copy of notification issued by the government for the formation of Justice Javed Iqbal Commission to investigate the mysterious death of NAB’s investigation officer Kamran Faisal before the Supreme Court.

The two-judge bench of the apex court comprising Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain resumed the hearing of the case and Fasih Bokhari appeared before the bench.
Commenting on the notification, Justice Khawaja said that it was merely an investigation commission, not the judicial.
The registrar’s office has objected to the written reservations expressed by the NAB’s Prosecutor General KK Agha over the constitution of the apex court bench.
KK Agha pleaded for more time to remove objections raised by the Registrar Office. “We want to see justice happening in this case,” Justice Khawaja remarked.
The Supreme Court granted conditional exemption to Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Admiral (R) Fasih Bokhari from appearing in court in case concerning the death of NAB investigator Kamran Faisal.
The NAB chairman informed the bench that the government had set up a commission to investigate Faisal’s death. The court included the government’s notification for the setting up of the commission in the case record.
Justice Khawaja said the NAB chairman would not have to appear at the next hearing of the case, adding that he would have to appear in court whenever summoned.
The next hearing on the case was adjourned until Feb 11.
