ISLAMABAD - Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar Wednesday visited Cairo as a Special Envoy of the President of Pakistan and met with Egyptian President Dr Muhammad Mursi, her counterpart Kamel Amr and Arab League Secretary General Mr Nabil el Arabi.According to official sources, she called on President Mursi and extended an invitation to attend D-8 Summit to be held here on November 22. She also invited President Mursi on behalf of President Zardari to undertake a bilateral visit to Pakistan on 23-24 November.The Egyptian President, while accepting the invitations, reiterated Egypt’s desire to forge closer and stronger ties with Pakistan. Khar also held a meeting with her Egyptian counterpart Mr Mohammad Kamel Amr. Besides discussing the entire gamut of bilateral relations, the two ministers also discussed regional and international issues of mutual interests. The Foreign Ministers expressed their confidence that President Mursi’s visit to Pakistan would further expand and deepen bilateral ties.On the sidelines of the visit, Foreign Minister Khar also held a meeting with the Secretary General of Arab League Mr Nabil el Arabi and exchanged views on matters of mutual interests including Palestine issue and the situation in Syria.
