Addressing a press conference, he further alleged that Imran sent the funds, donated to the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, through money laundering.
Asif said, “Despite the opposition from the board of directors of the hospital, Imran invested 4.5 million dollars from the money gained from ‘Sadkaat’, ‘Fitrana’ and ‘Zakat’ in foreign capital markets,” adding that he lost 65 per cent of the invested capital.
Asif further alleged that Imran sent another US$8 million to Dubai through money laundering and bought property in Muscat. He also said several members of the PTI were involved in these dubious deals, adding that that the PML-N was ready to face Imran in court over these allegations.
He said the PTI chief had invested this money in unnamed offshore companies and the Imran’s front man Imtiaz Haideri transferred the amount.
Asif further said the Shaukat Khanum Hospital was a welfare institution and his purpose was not to harm the entity. However, he said, it was imperative to expose Imran’ corrupt practices in the guise of so-called charity missions. He said, “We are saying this with complete evidence with us.”
Agencies add: Asif, flanked by Mushahidullah Khan and Pervez Rashid, said how Imran would be able to maintain national exchequer if was unable to do so with the Shaukat Khanum Trust (SKT).
According to Asif, a company was first registered in British Virgin Islands, which transferred money into a company, HBG in Dubai. Later, the HBG bought shares of Sugarland worth $3 million. During 2009-2010, Sugarland declared losses and in the coming two years, it faced 64 per cent losses. “Here, the money of Shaukat Khanum invested by Imran also faced a loss but it was not shown,” Asif said while referring to the documents he had distributed.
“Imran doesn’t get tired of unleashing allegations against the entire world, but he should first look at himself too.”
The PML-N also alleged that those working at SKMH were either Imran’s friends or family members. “Another important person is Imtiaz Haideri. He is a member of Imran Khan’s trust. He is a chief executive in Dubai and a chief executive in British Virgin Islands too.”
“In this party (PTI), they are all real estate businessmen or are involved in collecting donations. There is this singer as well, who also collects donations. The whole leadership is involved in the real estate business, they are all gamblers,” said Asif, adding that he was providing proof from Shaukat Khanum’s own papers.
“We are not speculating or assuming this. We have handed you all the balance sheets too on which all the investments are stated.”
“During a Public Accounts Committee meeting, I asked NAB without mentioning any name that if a social welfare organisation is involved in such gambling investment, does your law allow them to catch them. They told me yes, they would take action… When the time comes, we will also go to the court.”
“We know it hurts the credibility of leaders before the elections, but we are trying to show the real face (of Imran Khan) on how he is managing the donations,” Asif added.
