PESHAWAR - In order to thwart any untoward incident during Friday prayers, the city police beefed up security of various mosques and main entry points of the cantonment area on Friday.

All routes leading to various mosques of the cantonment were properly patrolled by the cantonment police while walkthrough gates were installed at the entrance points of various buildings. Extra contingents of police were deployed as compared to routine days at mosques and other important places. The contingents also remained alert outside mosques as during Friday prayers the worshipers sometime had to perform prayer outside mosque.
Police remained vigilant on all entry routes leading from Federally Administered Tribal Areas to Peshawar. In the wake of poor law and order situation in the province, police on every Friday prayers take stringent security measures to foil any sabotaging bid.
Meanwhile, a police mobile narrowly escaped a blast that occurred at a roadside, where an explosive device was planted, in Nowshera district. The target of the device was police mobile, however the bomb exploded after the passing of the police vehicle.
