PSDP gets Rs873 billion

ISLAMABAD – The government has announced a Public Sector Development Programme worth Rs 873 billion for the next fiscal year 2012-13 which is almost 20 per cent higher than Rs 730 billion PSDP of the outgoing financial year 2011-2012.

According to the details, an amount of Rs 360 billion has been allocated for the projects of the federal government, Rs 513 billion have been earmarked for the provinces, that would be spent through their Annual Development Programmes (ADPs), while Rs 10 billion have been allocated for the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) for the financial year to come 2012-2013.
According to the documents, the distribution of Rs 350 billion federal component of the PSDP in different ministries/divisions/organisations is: Rs 47.192 billion for the Water and Power Division (Water Sector); Rs 39.167 billion for the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission; Rs 2.177 billion for cabinet division, Rs 791.5 million for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD), Rs 135 million for climate change division and Rs 653.8 million for commerce division for next financial year.
The government has allocated Rs 142 million for Communication Division (other than NHA), Rs 2 billion for Defence Production Division, Rs 211 million for Economic Affairs Division, Rs 8 million for Establishment Division, Rs 25 million for Tax Ombudsman, Rs 13.616 billion for Finance Division, Rs 200 million for Foreign Affairs Division for the upcoming fiscal year 2012-2013.
Meanwhile, Rs 22.877b has been allocated for the Railway Division; Rs 1.311 billion for the Science and Technology Research Division; Rs 806.8 million for Revenue Division, Rs 1.6 billion for States and Frontier Regions Division, Rs 140 million for Statistics Div and Rs 227 million for Textile Industry Div. Similarly, Rs 2.951b for professional and Technical Training Division, Rs 37.840b for Planning and Development Division, Rs 268.1m for Petroleum and Natural Resources Division, Rs 400 million for Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority, Rs 6.509 billion for Interior Division, Rs 787.4m for Info Tech and Telecom Division.

The government has allocated Rs 2.591 billion for Housing and Works Division, Rs 15.8 billion for Higher Education Commission (HEC); Rs 774.5 million for Industries division, Rs 3.205 billion for Defence Division, Rs 126 million for Human Right Division, Rs 412.3 million for Information and Broadcasting Division, Rs 20 billion for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan, Rs 1.2 billion for Law and Justice Division, Rs 311 million for Narcotics Control Division.  For Corporations, the government has allocated Rs 29.655 billion for WAPDA (Power) and Rs 50.727 billion for National Highway Authority. For Special Programmes, the government has allocated Rs 37 billion, and out of this amount Rs 5 billion are allocated for PWP-I while the rest of the amount i.e. Rs 22 billion is sanctioned for PWP-II.
Allocation in the PSDP 2011-12 for ERRA is Rs 10 billion. Provinces’ shares have been increased to Rs 513 billion against the last year allocations of Rs 430 billion.
