BAHAWALPUR - The Islamia University of Bahawalpur vice chancellor has been invited to participate in a conference to be jointly held by the West Chester University of Pennsylvania & Universidad Nacional at Heredia, Costa Rica, West Chester, Pennsylvania.
The conference titled “Knowledge Crossing Borders, Building a Global Future through Research and Innovative Practices” will be held soon. Prof Dr Muhammad Mukhtar will be a part of the 40 members’ Presidential Conclave comprising world prominent universities’ presidents, vice chancellors, rectors, leaders of major national and international organization having a commitment towards higher education.
The topics include promoting ethical behaviour and ethical decision making; professional practices in teaching and learning, Int’l cooperation across institutions of higher education, partnerships between governments, private sector enterprise and higher education, future of technology in higher education, achieving sustainable environment through research, teaching and modelling, the responsibility of higher education in advancing healthcare globally, higher education role in economic development and combating poverty and role of higher education in overcoming illiteracy.
Dr Mukhtar will address the August gatherings of the eminent world educationist. He will discuss about the “Globalization of Scientific Research and Development - A Viable Strategy to Alleviate International Economic Depression” Over the past few decades, rapid advancement in science and technology led to knowledge based economies.
According to the VC, the developed nations had benefited greatly from research and development leaving behind those having relatively less access to emerging sciences, Trained manpower has been flocking to scientifically resource rich countries though every country tried to modernize its educational system. However, he added, variations in national priorities and global recession severely hindered such efforts in country like Pakistan.
Dr Mukhtar will propose a strategy for globalization of translational products emerging from science and technology on the occasion.
He was of the view that the sharing of the intellectual resources would create opportunities in relatively less developed nations thus alleviating their economic issues and in parallel creating products at relatively less cost for international markets.
