MABAD (APP) - Faculty members of International Islamic University have criticised the appointment of a foreign professor on administrative post.
A press release issued by Association of IIUI Professors said that Higher Education Commission (HEC) had appointed a foreigner as Professor in Political Science in the University in 2004 and according to the HEC rule and regulations a foreign professor cannot hold the administrative post.
It said foreign Professor Dr. Nazar-ul-Islam has now abandoned the research work and opted for an administrative post, which was in violation of HEC rules and regulations.
They alleged that the Professor had been drawing Rs250,000 per month for last seven years and had produced only one PhD student so far. It said local professors and teachers were feeling depressed due to this posting and appealed to the authorities to take notice of this appointment against the rules.
Meanwhile, faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) will hold its 2nd Open House on Monday at its male and female campuses separately.
Mahmood Ahmed Farooqui, spokesman of IIUI, told APP that the programme for males would be held at the Department of Electronic Engineering, Block-II (Male Block), whereas female programme were scheduled at the Department of Electronic Engineering, Women Campus.
He said that the projects of male and female students would be displayed in their respective campuses, thus providing fresh ideas to the market.
This show would also help the students to seek their carriers in the industry or pursue for higher studies.
After the success of last year annual Open House, the FET is focusing to familiarize the educational and industrial community of the potential of the students, quality of FET at IIUI, state of the art technology and the projects being completed and currently undertaken under the supervision of highly qualified faculty, he added.
Farooqui claimed that the national and multinational corporations including KRL, Allied Engineering Services, Wi-Tribe, Telephone industries of Pakistan, Zong, Mobilink, Integrated Solutions, International Polymer Industries, Air Weapon Complex and Fatima Jinnah University are taking part in the event will also conduct interviews of FET students for employment.
The IIUI spokesman further stated that the faculty members would also display their commercial and research advances in the Open House and It would be a great opportunity for all the intellectuals, industry professionals and students alike to take maximum benefit from this Open House.
