LAHORE - Since the’political President’ is yet to decide if he should remain ‘apolitical’ one in the wake of Supreme Court decision in Asghar Khan case, the party he heads as its Co-Chairman, has postponed its planned election rally at Mandibahauddin for the second time.
It was scheduled to be held on October 25th, but was postponed after the court verdict in Asghar Khan restricting the President from supporting any political party. The PPP had then fixed November 5th as the new date for its public gathering, but this too has been postponed as per party sources.
“The rally has been postponed as the party leadership is yet to decide whether or not the President should be addressing the election rallies”, PPP’s central Punjab Secretary Information, Aamir Raja told TheNation. “It would now be held on November 15th”, another party leader Usman Salim Malik told this scribe.
It may be recalled here that President Asif Ali Zardari had earlier announced to kick start party’s election campaign from Mandibahauddin by addressing a public rally on October 25th.
