No compromise will be made on the national interest: Malik

The Interior Minister Rehman Malik has proposed elimination of Farari Camps in Balochistan under some monitoring mechanism. The Senate was informed on Friday that no compromise will be made on the national interest and all the decisions regarding the NATO supply have been made keeping in view the dignity and sovereignty of the country. Responding to a point of order raised by Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri‚ Interior Minister Rehman Malik said the MoU singed for restoration of NATO supply will be made public. He said our stand regarding the implementation of the recommendations of the Parliament is same as it was earlier. To another point of order raised by Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi regarding law and order situation in Karachi‚ the Interior Minister said the security arrangements in the city have been improved and sectarian and ethnic polarization has been reduced to a great extent. Interior Minister Rehman Malik has proposed elimination of Farari camps in Balochistan under some monitoring mechanism as these camps are the root cause of the trouble in the province. He was giving a policy statement on Balochistan situation in the Senate on Friday afternoon. The Interior Minister asked Cabinet Sub-Committee on Balochistan to consult all MNAs and Senators from Balochistan before finalizing its recommendations. Rehman Malik said forty-six Farari camps are operating in Balochistan besides twenty-four training camps in the vicinity of Kandahar in Afghanistan. He said thirty-three training camps are operating in small pockets and evidence suggests they are being harboured by India and the matter has been taken up with the Indian authorities. Rehman Malik said total number of missing persons in Balochistan is thirty-six while in Punjab‚ two hundred and twenty-two and in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa the number of missing persons is one hundred. He said the Chief Justice has made effort for the recovery of these persons and pledged that under the directions of the Chief Justice we will find out a solution to this issue.  He said that he will give details about the missing persons in the Supreme Court.
