PESHAWAR – Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer, Syed Munawar Hasan said on Saturday that JI would strongly resist any move to derail democracy, adding that delay in holding elections would create ‘artificial’ rulers to govern and ultimately it would bring chaos in the country.
Replying to a query Syed Munwar Hassan said that historically talks were even held among enemies. Due to the US pressure, government was reluctant to negotiate with Taliban. Regarding seat to seat adjustment or electoral alliance with other parties, he said that the JI has authorized its provincial party organizations to talks with other parties and then submit report to them.
He asked participants of the congregation to pass on party message to each youth for bringing a change in the country. To avoid any chaos, government must announce date for elections and the polls should be held under an independent election commission. Delay in holding elections would certainly create artificial rulers in the country.
He said that all political parties may get united against the MQM in coming elections. He said that present government had failed on all fronts. He said that votes could bring a big change in the country.
