KARACHI - President Asif Ali Zardari has said that all political parties had right to do politics, but only by abiding by democratic norms. Discussing the prevalent socio-political situation of the Country, during his talks with Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Wednesday at the Presidential Camp Office of Bilawal House, the President also retreated the strong resolve of government to foil any attempts from any quarters against democracy.
The meeting also deliberated over the prevailing energy crisis, and decided to speed up alternate means to provide energy to masses, while also planning to enhance investment policy and scope for betterment of economy.
President Zardari also directed the PM to evolve and implement a comprehensive policy, strategy for maintaining law and order in Karachi with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, on the sidelines, National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza also met President Zardari whence both deliberated over parliamentary and other relevant affairs. On the occasion, President Zardari expressed that ‘record legislation’ had been carried out during regime’s tenure, and said that government believed in empowering parliament and other institutions.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari has directed the government to take immediate measures for overcoming fuel shortage. He was talking to Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf during a meeting in Karachi on Wednesday, according to official media. Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Sheikh was also present in the meeting. The President also asked the Prime Minister to direct the concerned authorities for taking appropriate measures to resolve energy shortage being faced by the people.
The Finance Minister briefed the President regarding steps being taken by the government to tackle the situation. Both the leaders also discussed overall political and economic situation of the country during the meeting.
ADDITIONAL CHARGE: Azfar Ali Abidi, an officer of KMC Service Deputy Director (Planning) Finance & Accounts Department KMC is given the additional charge of the post of Director (Planning). Azfar Ali Abidi will also perform his own duties with immediate effect until further orders whereas Atique Baig Consultant KMC is allowed to work as incharge of newly created Foreign Coordination Department with immediate effect until further orders.
Meanwhile, the teaching and examinations at the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST) in Gulshan-i-Iqbal and Abdul Haq campuses will remain suspended on January 3. This was announced by the Registrar of the institution in a statement here on Wednesday.
Two terrorists held: Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Police on Wednesday arrested two members belonging to a banned terrorists’ outfit from Sultanabad area of Karachi, officials said.
According to the CID police, the terrorists belong to a banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and were involved in various incidents of terrorism and crimes including target killings.
The police also recovered huge amount of weapons from their possession.
The terrorists were identified as Kashif alias Shooter and Tariq and they were also involved in the attack on public rally. The suspects were shifted to undisclosed location for investigations.
