ISLAMABAD - The main opposition party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz would unlikely attend the House Business Advisory Committee of National Assembly called on Monday afternoon by Speaker Dr Fahmida Mirza to formulate budget session business in consultation with all the Parliamentary parties.
Sources further informed that Speaker has once again approached the Leader of Opposition Ch Nisar Ali Khan and requested him to see her in the Chamber so that his concerns with the chair could be addressed and the smooth conduct of the House could be ensured.
Sources in the Pakistan People’s Party informed that Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has strictly directed the party MPs not to cross the limits of decency during the budget session and party’s chief whip in the National Assembly Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khurshid Shah would be given instruction to control the hawkish elements in the party to avoid ugly episode which the house witnessed during the budget speech by the Federal Finance Minister Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh could be avoided.
Sources in the Parliament informed The Nation that equally disturbed over the situation was Ch. Nisar Ali Khan who had also admonished some of his party’s MPs for crossing the limits during the budget speech and said that the protest should remain within the limits of Parliamentary norms.
He also strictly directed his MPs to avoid such things during the Budget Session however, the protest by the party against the Prime Minister’s status would continue during the budget session and they would not let the House to function properly.
Sources in the government informed that Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khurshid Shah and some other senior party leaders were in constant touch with the PML-N leaders and were trying to convince them to let the House function smoothly but so far failed to get any commitment from PML-N leadership.
