Seven additional judges’ appointment in PHC okayed

ISLAMABAD - Judicial Commission under the head of Chief Justice of Pakistan has recommended appointment of seven additional judges in Peshawar High Court while also recommended six months extension in service of six additional judges of Lahore High Court.
Judicial Commission meeting was held here under the chair of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry. Attorney General of Pakistan, Federal Minister for Law and Justice and Pakistan Bar Council member were conspicuous due to their absence from the meeting.
Those who were recommended to be appointed as Additional Judges of Peshawar High Court included Abdul Latif Khan, Malik Manzoor, Afsar Ali Shah, Lal Jan Khattak, Ikramullah Khan, Musarat Hilali and Saud Khan. However consensus on the name of Hayat Ali Shah could not be reached so his case was deferred for the time being.
Meanwhile the Judicial Commission also recommended six-month extension in the service of six Additional Judges of Lahore High Court including Justice Aysha Malik, Justice Abadur Rehmand Lodhi, Justice Abdus Sami Khan, Justice Shujaat Ali Khan, Justice Shahid Hameed and Justice Syed Ali Baqar.
