ISLAMABAD - Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Dr Shoaib Suddle Saturday made it clear that though around 70 per cent members of the present Parliament did not submit their tax returns in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) yet it did not mean at all that they were tax thieves.
While addressing a joint press conference along with acting Federal Ombudsman Salman Farooqi, he said that tax thieves should not participate in elections rather uncontroversial personalities should become part of the election process.
He further said that if Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) sought some assistance to pinpoint tax thieves during the scrutiny of the nomination papers; his office would fully provide the assistance. He said his office had written a letter to ECP offering its help in the preparation of nomination forms for general elections. Salamn Farooqi said that the changes in the laws of ombudsman were being brought only just to ensure provision of better justice.
