KARACHI - The ruling PPP’s dissident MNA and former deputy speaker of National Assembly, Syed Zafar Ali Shah has demanded that Election Commission should call Army for transparent 0and fair polls in by-election on PS-21 to be held on November 17 in Naushero Feroze of Sindh.Addressing press conference at Karachi Press Club on Friday, PPP’s MNA dissociating himself from the ruling PPP led by Asif Ali Zardari and said he was the member of Pakistan Peoples Party of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, so no one can expel him from the party. The by-election on PS-21 (Kandiaro-Mehrabpur), which fell vacant after the Supreme Court disqualified PPP’s MPA Syed Ahmed Ali Shah, brother of MNA Zafar Ali Shah, for possessing dual citizenship, to be held on November 17. PPP’s MNA Syed Zafar Ali Shah sided himself from the policies of the party government especially passage of controversial local government law in Sindh Assembly. Dissident MNA of PPP fields his nephew Zuhaib Shah as independent candidate against his own party’s candidate Syed Sarfraz Shah in by-election on provincial seat. In his press conference, Zafar alleged on party government that state machinery being used to win the voters as well as local administrative was also busy in pre-poll rigging.He demanded from election commission that by-elections must be held under the supervision of Army as he does not believe in the neutrality of local police and administration. PPP’s dissident MNA claimed that nationalist and other parties supporting his independent candidate, hoping that election commission will play its role to ensure fair, free and transparent by-election in PS-21.
