The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Monday extended the interim bails for former chief minister Balochistan Jam Yousuf and former provincial home minister Aftab Sherpao in the Akbar Bugti murder case.
The bench moreover directed the crime branch to again record Sherpao’s statement.
During the hearing, Justice Jamal Mandokhel said that by finding responsibility in the Bugti murder case, the province and the country could also be saved.
Speaking to media representatives after the hearing, Sherpao said that he was as sad and outraged at the murder of Bugti as anyone else.
Sherpao added that he would continue to cooperate with the courts on the matter.
The complainant in the case is Akbar Bugti’s elder son, Jamil Bugti, who named in the FIR then president General (r) Pervez Musharraf, then prime minister Shaukat Aziz, then Balochistan governor Owais Ghani, then interior minister Aftab Sherpao, then Balochistan chief minister Jam Yousuf and then provincial home minister Shoaib Nausherwani. Mr Bugti was killed during a military operation on Aug 26, 2006.
