It is learnt that cable operators in different parts of the city are routinely showing the Pashto dances. Many viewers think that these dances are against the Pukhtun culture, social and moral values of Pakistani Islamic society.
Playing `vulgar` songs, these cable TV channels were also spreading `obscenity` in the society by playing `immoral` videos of dramas and dances but the relevant authorities have not yet taken any action against them.
From the last few weeks the Swat local cable networks are allegedly playing obscene videos in Pashto local dramas.
The locals, Swat Bar Council, Swat Press Club, civil society members, elders of the valley have demanded of the police to launch a crackdown against the elements involved in the business of spreading `vulgarity` observing that as per constitution of Pakistan Islam and Sunnah was the supreme law of the land and no immoral activity could be allowed under it. They also appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan, GOC Major Gen. Ghulam Qamar, Chief Minister KPK Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, to take stern action to control this immoral activity in the city.
