SWABI - The district police arrested five in connection with killing of seven aid workers of a local non-governmental organisation (NGO) near Anbar Interchange of Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway, sources said on Thursday.Unidentified attackers killed five teachers, one each lady health visitor and technician of a Support With Working Solution (SWWS) when they were on way to their homes in a van from Sher Afzal Banda, a far-flung village of Tehsil Chota Lahor. The sources said that the police have picked up these suspects from the different regions of the district. All of them have immediately been shifted to the secret location for investigations and the police have been trying to reach the bottom-line of the violent incident. The sources that arresting of more people in this connection could not be ruled out and the police and district administration remained under pressure from the different quarters after the assassination of the aid workers.When contacted by phone, Abdul Rashid, superintendent of police admitted that they have arrested five people, saying that the investigations are underway to unearth the secret behind the Anbar incident. He reiterated that it was an incident of terrorism and no other body could indulge in such ruthless carnage. Answering a question he said that the names and the localities of the arrested people could not be shared with the media at this critical stage of investigations. “It cannot be disclosed at this crucial phase of the investigations that they are hailed from where and what are their other connections and links,” he said.Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf provincial leader Gul Sahib Khan Khattak has said that if his party comes into power the looted funds of oil and gas royalty would be recovered from the incumbent elected representatives of district Karak. He was addressing to the prizes distribution ceremony as a chief guest at the final day of Peace Cricket Mela here on Thursday at Makoori and stressed on the youths to focus on their basic job of education also along with the sport activities to serve the nation in better way. The PTI leader alleged that PPP and ANP governments snatched the available facilities from the masses and they except price hike and lawlessness nothing gifted to the nation in their tenure. He claimed that the nation was sick of the incumbent rulers and wait for fresh election. He asked the rulers to step down and hold new election as they have lost the mandate of the people. The PTI leader regretted that the huge funds of oil and gas royalty of district Karak were distributed by the elected representatives among their supporters like Mal-e-Ghanimat and instead of giving new infrastructure to the masses the existing infrastructure was badly ruined by them. He alleged that they lavishly drew the funds on old infrastructure and looted the national wealth with both hands. He stressed on the young generation to support PTI in the coming general election to uprooted the rotten system and bring change in the country in real sense. He distributed the trophies and prizes among the winning and runner up teams.
