30 killed as bus falls into ravine in Kahuta

At least 30 persons were killed and several others injured when a bus fell in ravine in Kahuta. According to details, a bus carrying a marriage party from Kahuta to Chakwal fell into ravine while taking a sharp turn near Panjar, killing 30 people and injuring several others, private news channel reported. Some 80 passengers were present in the bus. Rescue teams reached the site of the accident and started rescue operation. The rescue work was hampered due the darkness and difficult mountain terrain. Army was also called in for assistance in rescue operation. At least 30 injured were rushed to District Hospital Kahuta while 20 were shifted to different hospitals in Rawalpindi. Meanwhile, emergency was declared in Holy Family Hospital and Benazir Hospital in Rawalpindi. President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani have expressed grief over the loss of precious lives and directed the concerned authorities to provide best medical treatment to the injured.
