Nato drivers protest extortion

QUETTA - Dozens of drivers of Nato containers on Saturday staged a protest demonstration outside Quetta Press Club against the alleged extortion demanded by Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan at checkposts.
The protesting drivers chanted slogans against the government and FC.
Talking to reporters, the drivers said they had no trouble while travelling throughout Balochistan but when they reach Quetta, FC demands extortion from them at Kuchlak. “Our containers travel 800 km but we face no trouble.
However, when we reach Quetta and want to pass onwards, we face trouble and run out of our travelling budgets due to extortion paid to the FC,” one of the drivers claimed.
They said that it was hard for them to make ends meet as FC at Beleli Checkpost in Kuchlak demanded Rs 10,000 from each container.
They said they have appealed to the provincial government to take notice of the injustice being meted out to them.
