ISLAMABAD - Karachi Deputy Inspector General of Police told the Supreme Court on Monday that eyewitnesses said that they had seen Shahrukh Jatoi fired shots at Shahzeb Khan.The DIG Shahid Hayat told the court that police had recovered the weapon used in the crime and bullet shells from the site.Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, heading a three-member bench that hearing sou moto about the killing of Shahzeb Khan, questioned whether police took any action against those who had facilitated Shahrukh Jatoi fleeing the country.FIA Director (Legal) Azam Khan informed the court that Shahrukh travelled on the passport of Muhammad Ali. The chief justice inquired how Shahrukh Jatoi crossed three checkpoints at the Karachi airport without being noticed and whether the FIA had registered cases against the immigration officials.According to the FIA report, Shahrukh Jatoi left the country on December 27 along with his brother Nawab Ali Jatoi and Muhammad Khurram. Shahrukh obtained boarding card impersonating as Syed Shahrukhand using a forged passport issued to Muhammad Ali, a resident of Swabi.The FIA official told the court that a travel agency issued the ticket and its owner said that it was issued in emergency, while the entry at the airport was made in violation of the rules. “The camera could not capture Shahrukh Jatoi at the time of departure. Justice Azmat Saeed questioned whether the FIA were able to identify the counter from where Shahrukh obtained the boarding. The official said that the counter was identified and cases were registered against the persons deputed there. The chief justice said that Shahrukh's father Sikandar misled the authorities in his interview, sayingthat his son went to Australia on December 25. The hearing was adjourned until February 13. Shahzeb Khan, 20, was killed on December 25 at Sabaha Avenue in Karachi.
