KARACHI  - The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Friday filed a petition in the Supreme CourtKarachi registry, requesting exemption for party chief Altaf Hussain from appearing in the court on January 7.According to the petition, Altaf Hussain's followers think his life will be in danger, if he comes to Pakistan and Dr Farooq Sattar wants to appear before the apex court on his (Altaf's) behalf. The petition states that situation is perilous in the country for political leaders which is evident by the killing of Benazir Bhutto and Bashir Bilour. The apex court had issued a contempt of court notice to Altaf and his party's deputy convener Dr Farooq Sattar on December 14 over the former's derogatory remarks about Supreme Court judges. The notice was issued during the hearing of a case on Karachi's law and order situation.
