Power shortfall surges to 5317MW

The electricity crisis continues to plague the country in this hot summer as the shortfall on Thursday reached to 5317 megawatts.

In several cities of Punjab, residents were without electricity overnight and are experiencing loadshedding of 14 to 20 hours.
According to Spokesman of Energy Management Cell, IPPs have not been supplied oil and gas by the Ministry of Water and Power due to which power generating companies reduced production of electricity.
According to media reports, demand of electricity across the country had reached 18,713MW while at least 13,000MW electricity is being produced which increased the shortfall to 5317 in this regard.
