Crackdown on fireworks manufacturers launched

HAFIZABAD - On the orders of DPO Karmat Ullah Malik, the owner of the fireworks warehouse where five persons were killed and seven other injured, was arrested by the police.
Meanwhile, the police have also sealed off the fireworks warehouses situated near DPO Office and one on Bagh Road here. He has also ordered strict action against the fireworks retailers.
According to survey conducted by this scribe there are 20 fireworks manufacturers who have valid licences in Hafizabad, Sukheke, Pindi Bhattian, Rasulpur Tarar and other places who have stocked fireworks for sale on the eve of Shab-e-Barat.
According to sources besides licensed fireworks manufacturers, there are more than 30 others who are illegally manufacturing the deadly devices. The fireworks is being sold at more than eighty places in Hafizabad, Pindi Bhattian, Sukheke Mandi, Kaleke Mandi, Jalal pur Bhattian, Vanike Tarar and other places and no step has so far been taken against them to check its sale to avert damage to life and propriety.
Investigation scientific lines underlined: SP (Investigations) Naseem Chaudhry has stressed the need for adopting scientific methods for investigation of criminal cases to build capacity of police officials and provide justice to the public.
Addressing a training workshop here which was attended by all the SHOs and Investigation officers of the district, she also underlined the need for improving standard of investigation to provide relief to the common man. She also urged the participants to perform their duties without any fear or favour to provide justice to the aggrieved people.
She said that cops should perform their duties with commitment and eliminate crime and criminals to provide sense of security among citizens.
