LAHORE/KARACHI - Local producers of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) have increased prices by Rs6 per kg despite a decline in its international prices.LPG Association of Pakistan spokesman Belal Jabbar said that only state-owned producer PPL increased the prices. “The PPL controls 15 per cent of the LPG production. All 10 producers may raise prices on Tuesday (today),” said Belal. According to the distributors, retail price of LPG jacked up by Rs6 per kg. The retail price will be Rs106 per kg in Karachi, Rs111 per kg in Lahore, Rs115 per kg in KP and Rs120 per kg in northern areas, Fata, Batgram, and Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK).  The price of 11.8 kg cylinder has been raised up to Rs1,080 in Karachi, Rs1,180 in Lahore, Rs1,302 in KP and Rs1,384 in Northern Areas, Fata, Batgram and AJK.The price of 45.4kg cylinder has been hoisted up to Rs4,160 in Karachi, Rs4,454 in Lahore, Rs4,954 in KP and Rs5,317 in the northern areas, Fata, Batgram and AJK. The distributors criticised the producers for the increase despite the cut in Saudi Aramco Contract Price for May 2012 and called it an unjustified raise which would again pull down LPG sales in the country. All Pakistan LPG Distributors Association Chairman Abdul Hadi Khan said, “This unjustified rise will again pull down LPG sales in the country to 30 per cent. They (producers) are taking advantage of the ongoing energy crisis.”
