Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim has said that the future of the nation depends upon transparent polls and the commission will ensure free and fair elections.

Talking to media in Lahore‚ he said that it is the collective responsibility of the political parties‚ civil society and the media to play their effective role in this regard.
He said responsibility also rests with the voters to check their names in the voter lists. He said that voter lists have been made public and are easily accessible.
The Chief Election Commissioner said that the commission took historic decision and disqualified the parliamentarians holding dual nationality. He said “we are bound to the directives of the Supreme Court. The commission is working without any pressure from any quarter.” To a question‚ he said to facilitate the voters the number of polling stations is being increased.
