Dacoits may be ashamed of rulers’ plunder: CM

HAVELI LAKHA - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Zardari and his cronies have made the life of masses miserable through unprecedented corruption while inefficiency of federal rulers has pushed the country into quagmire of darkness, inflation, unemployment and poverty.

Addressing a public gathering here at Haveli Lakha on Tuesday, Shahbaz Sharif said that even thieves and dacoits would be ashamed of the manner the federal rulers had plundered the hard-earned money of the masses. He claimed that the development activities undertaken by the PML-N Punjab government were unprecedented in the history of the country and development projects worth billions of rupees have been carried out across the province including district Okara.
MPAs Mian Moeen Wattoo, Ali Raza Gillani, Mian Yawar Zaman, PML-N leaders Rao Ajmal, Zahid Gillani, Syed Afzaal Shah Gillani and a large number of party workers were also present on the occasion.
The chief minister said that loot and corruption of Zardari and his cronies had pushed the nation into problems and crises while the country had been brought to the verge of disaster. He said that by implementing the policy of merit, transparency and speedy completion of development schemes, the Punjab government had executed a number of mega projects in the province which had resulted in relief to the masses.
 He said that as Khadim-e-Punjab was ready to face any punishment if corruption of even a single penny in development projects was proved against him. He said that Manzoor Wattoo embezzled Zakat Fund of orphans while he had also been involved in black-marketing of fertilizers. He said that Peoples Party would face a shameful defeat in the general elections and if PML-N came into power the process of development would be accelerated throughout the country including Okara. He said that if people gave opportunity, darkness would be eliminated from the country within two years. Referring to the development projects of the Punjab government, the Punjab CM said that due right had been given to the masses through laptop scheme, Ujala programme, educational endowment fund, subsidized green tractor scheme and self-employment scheme. He said that elections were around the corner and people would have to get rid of corruption of Zardari and loadshedding.
He said that Nawaz Sharif would have to be brought into power for rooting out darkness and corruption as he was the one who gave solid economic policies to the country, constructed motorway, gave free of cost land to poor Haris of Sindh and made Pakistan a nuclear power. Shabaz said that innocent people were being killed in Karachi and Quetta while KPK was also facing terrorism but the rulers had become insensitive.
Earlier, the chief minister laid the foundation stone of the second phase of Kasur-Depalpur dual carriageway at Hujra Shah Muqeem. The second phase of the road from Allah Abad to Depalpur will cost Rs2.40 billion while it will be completed by June 30. The first phase of the road from Kasur to Allah Abad has been completed at a cost of Rs2.40 billion. The Punjab CM also inaugurated sewerage and tuff tile project in Hujra Shah Muqeem.
Addressing the public meeting, the chief minister said that a sum of Rs330 million would be spent on improvement of sewerage system in Haveli Lakha.
