Rising dacoities expose police performance

BAHAWALNAGAR - ‘Mighty’ dacoits exposed the police tall claims regarding foolproof security as they shot at and injured a head constable and a police razakar and took away their official gun and motorbike as well. Similarly, robbers injured a minor girl and whisked away a tractor from the dera of local a farmer. Moreover, the lawyers of the district protested against the inefficiency of the police in Fortabbas. According to detail, armed dacoits shot at and injured Head Constable Mohammad Saleem and Razakar Ashraf deployed at Police Checkpost on Jorki Road. They also snatched a gun and motorbike from them. Similarly, dacoits robbed dozens of people on Minchinabad Road while opened fire on a car as a result of which a minor girl was injured seriously.

On the same night, dacoits attempted to take away a tractor from the dera of Mohammad Din but locals foiled their bid. Meanwhile, lawyers staged a protest against the indifference and ineptitude of the Fortabbas Police. According to the lawyers, the police are reluctant to register a robbery case and behaviour of the officials was rude. Later, the lawyers dispersed following transfer of the SHO.
Social, political and religious circles have expressed concern over the poor performance of the police. They demanded the police high-ups to take stock of the aggravating situation and devise a comprehensive strategy to protect life, honour and property of the public.
Four injured:  Four people received bullet injuries when two rival groups opened indiscriminate fire on each other over a property dispute in the limits of Farooqabad Saddr Police here the other day.
As per detail, Muzammal Bhatti and Shahzad Arian group have been dispute over a commercial plat of land.
On the day of incident, they came face to face and try to take possession of locked in a plot in village Ajnianwala and engaged in a shootout.
During exchange of firing four people from both groups received bullet injuries and shifted to nearby hospital.
The injured were identified as Sikandar, Qamar, Yasin and Saddam.  The Farooqabad Saddr Police have registered a case against both the groups.
Man booked for illegal sale of petrol:  A shopkeeper of Chak 286/GB was arrested for illegally selling petrol here the other day. Assistant Commissioner Ms Fareeha Tehseen wrote to the Rajana Police on Sunday that she raided the shop of Javed Bhatti but he failed to produce a license for the sale of petrol.
The police registered against the accused on the complaint of the AC.
