At least 11 killed, 60 injured in Punjab road accidents

At least 11 persons were killed and more than 60 others injured in separate road accidents in different areas of the province on Saturday.

According to police, the first accident took place at Bhakkar Road, near Khairkot area of Jhang where Lahore and Dera Ismail Khan bound buses collided head-on resulting in death of six people while more than 50 others were left injured.
The injured were taken to DHQ Hospital from where eight were shifted to Faisalabad’s Allied Hospital. Condition of some of the injured was stated to be critical.
A reckless driven speedy van crushed four motorcyclists on Kot Lakhpat Road near Raiwind killing all of them on the spot and fled the scene.
A driver was killed and seven passengers wounded when two buses collided head-on near Chakri Interchange in Islamabad. The dead body and injured rushed to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
It should be mentioned that road accidents across Punjab were on rise. Mostly reckless driving and over speeding was cause of the mishaps. Talking to INP some of the injured passengers at Chakra demanded the provincial government and Highway and Motorway police authorities for taking solid steps to stop the loss of precious lives.
