FAISALABAD - The woman, who was admitted to hospital with critical burns she had sustained when a motorcyclist threw acid on her, breathed her last here at Civil Hospital on Wednesday. Reportedly, 30-year-old Miraj Bibi, a resident of Islam Nagar and the mother of two daughters was on the way along with her daughter and house maid in a rickshaw when a motorcyclist identified as Ejaz threw acid on her at Samanabad on Rasala Road on May 31. She sustained critical burns and was admitted to the hospital. The doctors at hospital struggled hard for her survival but she finally lost the battle and breathed her last on Wednesday. The police have arrested the accused and a joint team has started investigation from him.

Meanwhile, the bereaved family and locals staged a protest against the incident on Jail Road. They blocked traffic on the road for about one hour and accused the police of negligence. They alleged that although the police had arrested the accused four days ago, he had not been produced in the court so far.
It is to be noted that it was the third incident of acid throwing in Faisalabad during a week.
