PESHAWAR - A high level meeting was held to discuss matters relating to the problems of All Pakistan Goods Transport Truck Owners Association due to enhancement of income tax by the federal government and table some viable proposals in this regard.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Excise and Taxation, Liaqat Shabab was in the chair. The meeting discussed in detail matters relating to the problems faced by the All Pakistan Goods Transport Truck Owners’ Association due to enhancement in the Income Tax by the Federal Government and table some viable proposals in this regard.
The meeting was also attended by Secretary Excise & Taxation, Sajid Khan Jadoon, Director General Excise & Taxation, Khushal Khan, Deputy Commissioner Income Tax Shaukat Hayat, ETO Commercial Excise & Taxation, Liaqat Hayat, President of All Pakistan Goods Transport Truck Owners Association, Malik Khwaja Muhammad Mohmand and officers of the other concerned departments.
The meeting was informed about the enhancement of the tax and its repercussions on the tax recovery at provincial level and underline the need to adopt a policy that the present pace of recovery did not affect.
Secretary Excise & Taxation, Director General Excise & Taxation and Deputy Commissioner Income Tax, presented their opinion about the matters as well.
The minister, while addressing the meeting suggested that a letter should be sent to the Federal Minister Finance to make a request to review the decision, because he, by himself was not satisfy with this decision of the Federal Government. He said most of the people associated with truck business were belong to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and not only tax recovery of the department, but general masses will also be suffered, if tax was not reviewed, he added.
