ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf on Thursday directed Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Farooq H Naek to ensure that the Constitution and law are followed in letter and spirit in the run-up to the next general elections, so that there is no room for any delay.
The order from the premier came during a crucial meeting at the Prime Minister’s House which the law minister briefed comprehensively about the role of the election commission and measures being taken for free and fair elections in the country.
Besides reviewing the overall arrangements for the election process, the meeting also took stock of the current situation against the backdrop of the parleys being held with leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid – an ally of the ruling PPP.  Prime Minister Ashraf meanwhile appreciated the efforts put up by the Law Ministry and notably Farooq Naek for preparation of the fair trial bill and its passage by both the houses of Parliament.
