ISLAMABAD- The All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) Monday announced countrywide protest against the alleged victimisation of the CNG sector due to the absence of CNG policy.APCNGA Chairman Ghayas Paracha said in a statement: “Those who have always blamed CNG sector for consuming too much gas should tell the nation why there is no gas available for domestic consumers while CNG stations have been closed. "The nation must know where all the gas is flowing now.We have no option but to take the public to streets to get our demands be met.”He said that survival of CNG sector was dependent on provision of gas while gas was being provided to those sectors which had other options for energy.  "The CNG sector consumes seven percent gas but is being victimised while those involved in gas theft of fourteen percent are being encouraged," he regretted. Paracha said that a protest rally would be carried out in Islamabad from Faizabad at 2:00 pm while another rally would start at 4:30 pm in Karachi from Civic Lawn, opposite Sui Southern Gas Company head office. A press conference would be held after the Karachi rally. A demonstration will be held at Main Boulevard, Main Marketof Lahore’s Gulberg Chowk at 2:30 pm while another rally is scheduled to be taken out at 2:00 pm at GTS Chowk, Faisalabad. He said the artificial crisis of the CNG had made some 400,000 people unemployed, making life difficult for them and their two and a half million dependants.The suffering of people and damage of transporters was another chapter.Paracha said that CNG filling stations had been closed for two and a half months, rusting machinery and jeopardising investmentof Rs400 billion. He asked the president and prime minister to take notice of unannounced gas supply suspension to CNG stations to save investments and provide relief to the masses.Paracha said that latest pricing formula was made in violation of all the rules, regulations and norms in which gas prices and taxes were not reduced as demanded.
