KMC workers protest against non-payment of salaries

KARACHI - The employees of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) on Monday staged a protest against the non-payment of salaries here as thousands of the employees have not been paid their salaries and pensions.

According to the protesters, the employees of above grade 5 have not received their salaries of November and December and more than 1600 fire brigade employees have not got their allowances for the last three months.
Director Education Afaq Mirza told media persons that the teachers had also not received salaries because of non availability of funds.
Meanwhile, Sindh Minister for Tourism, Muhammad Ali Malkani and Advisor to Sindh CM for Relief Haleem Adil Sheikh on Monday expressed deep sorrow over death of veteran politician and former Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami, Qazi Hussain Ahmed.
In a joint statement issued on Monday, the ministers said Qazi Hussain was a senior and sincere politician and the country has lost a veteran politician.
