Australian lecturer plans to write Swat history

SWAT - Senior Australian Strategic Studies lecturer at Deakin University of Australia Dr Claude Rakisits arrived at Swat on two-day official trip.

Dr Claude wants to write a book on the history of Swat. Talking to this correspondent, Dr Claude said he loved the eye-catching sceneries of Swat valley, especially its mountains and cool atmosphere. He said the natural beauty attracted tourists.  Meanwhile, ISPR, Malakand division, spokesperson Col Arif Mahmood arranged a briefing about Pakistan Army activities in the area. On the occasion, Col Nasir stated that they had plans to conduct a minor operation in Swat in May 2009, but the militants resilience was heavy that was why Pakistan Army had decided to launch a major operation. He said they addressed the militancy in the valley, following which floods hit it and washed away basic infrastructure.
