Reports said a security forces convoy was on its way when it got hit by a bomb planted in Nadirmela area, killing Lance Naik Nadeem and wounding three other law enforcers. Two vehicles of the security forces were also wrecked in the explosion. The injured were rushed to Combined Military Hospital in Kalaya area. Soon after the blast, a massive contingent of law enforcers launched a search operation in the area and seized a huge cache of arms, shells of rockets and more than a dozen landmines.
Meanwhile, security forces targeted militant positions with artillery killing eight militants. Several militant hideouts were destroyed.
In another incident, five more militants were killed in clashes between militants and security forces in Ghundai Kalli area. The forces took control of the area and established bunkers therein. Two explosives-laden vehicles were also destroyed.
