ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) observed September 7 as ‘Martyrs’ Day’ at all the airbases throughout the country.
The day started with special prayers and recitation of Holy Quran for the martyrs of 1965 and 1971 wars and those who laid down their lives in action since creation of Pakistan.
A simple but impressive ceremony was also held at the Air Headquarters Islamabad, in which Acting Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Farhat Hussain Khan laid floral wreath and offered fateha at the Martyrs’ Monument. Principal staff officers and a large number of others attended the ceremony.
In the morning, a PAF contingent led by Southern Air Command Air Officer Commanding Air Vice-Marshal Muhammad Iqbal offered fateha and laid floral wreath at the grave of Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed (Nishan-e- Haider) on behalf of the PAF chief.
Floral wreaths were also laid on the graves of other PAF martyrs throughout the country.
