ISLAMABAD - US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Treasury dealing with issues related to ‘Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes’, Luke Bronin on Friday completed his consultations with senior Pakistani officials from finance, banking and security sectors.
On September 7th, Bronin visited Islamabad and met with Minister of Interior Rehman Malik, Minister of Finance Hafeez Shaikh and other senior officials from the Federal Investigation Agency and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On September 6th, Bronin visited Karachi and met with leaders from the State Bank of Pakistan as well as with private Pakistani banks.
Bronin's discussions focused on disrupting sources of terrorist financing to terrorist organisations.
Bronin also emphasised the importance of implementing UN 1267 Committee sanctions on terrorists and terrorist entities, and the international sanctions effort against Iran.
