MABAD - Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Friday told the Upper House of Parliament that approximately Rs 5.2 million were spent on six foreign visits by her predecessors since 2008.
Replying to a question during the question-hour session, she said in 2008, the then information minister undertook first visit to India to participate in the funeral of Indian Rajya Saba Member, Nirmala Deshpande. The second visit was undertaken to the United Kingdom during November 25, 2008 to November 29 on the invitation of British Home Secretary to study the functioning of Strategic Counter Terrorism Communication Centres, the minister said.
Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said the third tour was to Japan and fourth to Libya, United State and Dubai being member of the Presidents entourage in 2009.
