Hospital devoid of life-saving drugs

HAFIZABAD: An acute shortage of medicines particularly life-saving drugs, drips and other vaccines is being experienced by the patients in the emergency ward of the DHQ Hospital of Hafizabad.

Patients and their attendants present in the ward complained the shortage of even syringes in the ward not to speak of life-saving drugs and vaccines. Many scuffles between the patients dependents and doctors occurred due to which patients faced hardships and inconvenience. They were asked to purchase all sorts of medicines and syringes from the market.
Moreover, there are no proper arrangements to sterilise the medical apparatus. When contacted, a medical officer disclosed that there was no injections, drips, vaccines and syringes are absolutely unavailable in the hospital.
It is pertinent to mention here that the DHQ Hospital is being run by 25 medical officers against the 129 posts which have already created multiple problems in the hospital but shortage of medicines particularly life-saving drugs was causing anxiety among the patients.
When contacted the medical superintendent of the hospital said that medicines being supplied by the government were being provided to the patients at the hospital. Local citizens associations appealed to the provincial government to fill the vacant posts of doctors in the hospital which is catering for more than one million people of the district.
GANG BUSTED: The Jalalpur Bhattian police have smashed an inter-district criminal gang and arrested its four members including its ring leader Tanveer alias Teero and have recovered stolen motorcycles, ornaments, arms worth million of rupees.
Teero gang was operating in Hafizabad, Mandi Bhauddin and Gujranwala districts since long and was responsible for snatching bikes, gold ornaments, cash and fire-arms on the high-ways.
On a tip-off, SHO Jalalpur Bhattian Malik Ghulam Abbas Khichi arrested the ring leader, besides Jalil, Jhangir and Irfan and recovered 6 stolen motorcycles, gold ornaments and other valuables.
LOADSHEDDING:  Gepco is still unable to provide relief to the people in the area and continued outages especially at Sehri, Iftar as well as during prayers despite the violent protests during the past two weeks.
The consumers of Alipur feeder have been hard hit due to the cuts after every 10 minutes causing damage to electronics goods worth millions of rupees.
Gepco staff have failed to locate the fault. There has been hide and seek all the day. The consumers have appealed to the XEN to ensure early rectification of the fault in the feeder.
