According to Executive District Officer (Health) Dr Muhammad Zafar Awan, the issue of the nurses had almost resolved. He said that the health department had approved a plan to shift these 200 nurses to the building of public health nursing school adjacent to Govt. Allama Iqbal Memorial DHQ Hospital Sialkot. The EDO added that the buildings of the Paramedical Staff Training School and Hostel and EDO (Health) offices have been demolished clearing the way to establish the college’s own building.
He said that most of the male paramedics have been shifted to the old portion of the building of Matel Industry Training Center (MIDC) under the supervision of TEVTA after the consultation with the Surgical Instruments Manufacturers Association of Pakistan. The offices of EDO (Health) Sialkot have also been shifted to the Old Mayor House opposite to the Jinnah Stadium.
On the other side, the nurses said, “Our shifting to these rooms of Public Health Nursing School would further cause congestion and suffocation. The government should arrange a private accommodation for us.”
