FACEBOOK has shut down a page set up by the Pakistani Taliban to recruit enthusiasts to write for a quarterly magazine and to edit video. The Umar Media TTP page, which had more than 270 likes at the time it was shut down, was created in September and had just a handful of messages written in English. TTP spokesman Ihsanullah Ihsan confirmed to AFP by telephone that the faction had been ‘temporarily’ using the page ‘to fulfil its requirements’ before launching its own website.
