CIA arrests two for issuing Pak passports to Afghans

February 09, 2013

ISLAMABAD - Crime Investigation Agency (CIA), a wing of Islamabad Capital territory police, on Friday arrested two members of a gang that is notorious to issue Pakistani passports to Afghan nationals illegally.

A team of CIA arrested two members of gang including Wazir Khan and Zia Khan who were involved in helping Afghan nationals to get Pakistani passports illegally after getting huge sums.  Both accused, according to police, confessed to their crimes and revealed that officials of Passport office, NADRA and immigration office were involved in this heinous crime.
“We have been helping Afghan nationals to get Pakistani passports after declaring them deaf and dumb. Officials of NADRA and Passport office have been a great help to us in this practice that is still going on,” accused told CIA. According to police, they were investing the issue in the light of information revealed by the accused.
It is pertinent to mention here that, earlier in 2011, Interior Minister Rehman Malik raided DG Passport Office and ordered to seal its Afghan Visa Section for issuing illegal passports.
The minister had ordered the arrest of two staffers for their alleged involvement in issuing illegal passports to Afghan nationals and confiscated the passports of Afghan nationals.
During the raid Interior Minister caught a senior official of Passport office who was hiding two illegal passports. Sadly, the practice still goes on as corrupt officials of NADRA and Passport office were still issuing passports to Afghan nationals on huge scale.
