Fair Trial Act to tackle terrorism, says Naek

ISLAMABAD - Federal Law Minister Farooq H Naek on Friday reiterated that Election Commission had been formed constitutionally, which could only be dissolved through the mechanism laid down in the Constitution.At a meeting with German Ambassador HE Dr Cyrill Nunn who called on him in his office, the federal law minister said the PPP government was sincere about the creation of the new province in Punjab, so it introduced a bill in the Senate for this purpose on Friday.The federal law minister also told the ambassador that the coalition government wanted elections to be held in time as per the Constitution. Both of them discussed issues of mutual interest. The law minister told the ambassador that the incumbent parliament had passed many progressive laws and the Fair Trial Act was one of them. This act would help bring terrorists to justice, besides preventing its misuse against ordinary citizens.The law minister and the ambassador reiterated their resolve to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries on the basis of cooperation in various fields.
