KARACHI – President Asif Ali Zardari has said that PPP believes in fair and transparent polls and upcoming general will not be delayed even for a fraction of a second.
"PPP has fortified democracy in the country by promoting the politics of reconciliation and harmony. We have laid foundation for bright future of the people,” the president said during a meeting with PPP leader Abdul Qadir Shaheen Tuesday at Bilawal House in Karachi, a statement reads.
The president said: “We have never come to power through backdoors nor we did take shelter from state institutions. PPP believes in fair and transparent elections and polls will be held without on time.”  He claimed that the PPP would again come to power with the help of allies on the basis of performance.  Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who was also present, said: "We are pursuing the manifesto and ideas of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto. Democracy has taken deep roots and coming generations will savour its advantages.
“Democracy is a key to country’s survival. It is a healer to every wound and solution to every problem. Democracy is the will of people and their future depends on it.”  Transparent elections are guarantors of democratic order and it is the right of people to elect those whom they trust, he added. Bilawal said that President Zardari ousted a dictator from the President’s House in line with the policy of reconciliation and he frustrated the conspiracy of dismemberment of Pakistan by chanting the slogan of ‘Pakistan Khappe’.
He urged the political forces to play a positive role in strengthening the politics of reconciliation so that conspiracies against the democracy could be thwarted.
